Alphorn making at Heinz Tschumperlin, Habkern

In the workshop in Habkern, an alphorn maker demonstrates the traditional construction of an alphorn from spruce wood. Making one alphorn requires between 50 and 60 hours of work. The steps include planing the conically tapered wooden body and gluing the individual parts together. The spruce wood used comes from the surrounding region.
