The Anna Göldi Museum is dedicated to the story of Anna Göldi, who around 1780 worked as a maid for a physician and looked after his child. After the child allegedly spat out pins, Anna Göldi was accused of witchcraft and forced to confess under torture. The Council of Glarus voted 32 to 30 in favour of her execution, which was carried out in 1782 with an executioner's sword. Among the items on display in the museum are the supposed pieces of evidence, the pins. Today the trial of the time is considered unfair, particularly because of the unequal power relations.
