Experiencing plants in the middle of the city

The Botanical Garden of the University of Basel is one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world and is home to more than 7,500 plant species from a wide range of climate zones. Visitors can walk through tropical and cloud forest houses, marvel at giant water lilies or relax among cacti, orchids and exotic plants.
Particularly well known are the historic Viktoriahaus with its tropical aquatic plants and the modern tropical house in the middle of the city of Basel.
The combination of exotic plant life, a peaceful atmosphere and free admission makes the garden a small green oasis right by the Spalentor.
