The mailbox in the middle of the river
In the middle of the Reuss in Bremgarten stands an unusual “mailbox” that never fails to amaze visitors. The yellow object may look like a genuine mailbox of the post office, but it actually serves a completely different purpose: it is used to open and close the so-called Fällbaum (a tilting beam) at the weir. Originally the box was painted for fun in the style of the former PTT and over the years it developed into a well-known landmark of the town. Today the mailbox in the river is firmly part of Bremgarten's identity and a popular photo subject.
