Ice fishing Melchsee-Frutt

For ice fishing at Melchsee-Frutt, you meet at the Eisfischermagazin (ice fishing depot) with a guide who has been ice fishing for 20 years and who provides the complete equipment there. Wearing snowshoes, the group crosses the snow to the Eisfischersee, where a hole is drilled through the roughly 50 cm thick layer of ice. Afterwards it is possible to fish both actively with the rod and with passive rods, which indicate a bite by means of a little bell. Fishing usually takes place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., waiting about 10 minutes per hole before changing bait or location.
