Fürigen Fortress was built into the rock during the Second World War as part of the National Redoubt strategy. The construction costs at the time amounted to 440,000 francs. The facility contains long corridors, an ammunition magazine and quarters for the troops with sanitary installations for 100 men, who were divided into three shifts. The soldiers' dormitory had 52 sleeping places. The fortress also includes an examination and operating room as well as artillery guns with a camouflaged exit.
