The Executioner Museum in Sissach displays various types of torture methods from earlier times. On show are, among other things, a replica of a real guillotine, a rack, a boiling cauldron and a torture cage. Smaller instruments of torture such as masks of shame and thumbscrews are also exhibited, as well as an original rope that was used to hang people. Further exhibits include an original executioner's sword and axe, a Nazca mummy, one of the few surviving iron maidens and a witch's chair used during the Inquisition.
