La Brévine

The Vallée de La Brévine is a completely enclosed valley in which cold air accumulates and cannot escape. On 12 January 1987, the coldest temperature ever measured in Switzerland was recorded here, at -41.8 degrees. In an average winter, La Brévine counts 185 frost days and 60 ice days. Every year on 2 February, the cold festival takes place in La Brévine.
