Limmatschwimmen Zurich

The Limmatschwimmen is an annual event during which it is permitted to swim the stretch of the Limmat that is otherwise closed to swimming. The start is at the Frauenbad, from where the roughly two-kilometre route leads downstream. Along the way, the swimmers pass Zurich's town hall, several bridges and the bridge with the love locks, with the Grossmünster visible in the background. The event's main sponsor is EWZ, which highlights the hydropower of the Limmat as a source of renewable energy.
