Moskau lies as part of the municipality of Ramsen in the canton of Schaffhausen and has about 15 houses with around 50 inhabitants. All the houses have the street name Moskau, which is signposted every 10 metres along the road up to the border. The name came about after part of the village was jokingly named Petersburg after a municipal president, whereupon a neighbouring farmer mockingly christened his farm Moskau. The local restaurant Moskau had to be renamed Hegau after the Second World War because of German suspicions.
