The northernmost point of Switzerland lies near the village of Barzheim in the canton of Schaffhausen and is known as the Schwarzer Stein. The name goes back to the fact that people were once expelled from their own country at this spot. On the hike there, the border between Switzerland and Germany is crossed several times. At the point itself, the border runs so narrowly that a single step takes you from one country to the other. In 1998, the boundary stone was stolen once.
