In the Valais village of Leuk there are several dozen giant satellite dishes, popularly known as the "Ears of Leuk". Little is officially communicated about the exact purpose of the facility, which is why numerous rumours and secrets circulate. Among the most recently installed dishes are weather satellites, which are also said to be able to predict lightning and storms. Access to the main site is closed to ordinary visitors, but it is possible to walk up to some of the satellite dishes and look inside a building through the windows.
