The sledge run leads from Belalp down to Blatten and is around 10 km long, covering 800 metres of vertical drop. At the start the route passes directly through the village of Belalp and offers fine views along the way. The descent is made on so-called Gockisis sledges, which have a movable seat and are steered by shifting one's weight. The sledge can be rented at the Blatten valley station for 14 francs; with the Half Fare travelcard the ride is free. Handling them takes some getting used to at first, but after a little practice allows for a swift descent.
