Freudenfels Castle hosts a themed medieval banquet at which guests are welcomed by a squire with torches and fanfares. The castle's bailiff greets the guests personally and leads through the evening. For the aperitif, Käsküchli (small cheese tarts) and a warm medieval beverage are served, followed in the tavern by several starters such as a soup, air-dried pork belly and lentil porridge. Special table manners apply during the evening, and failure to observe them is punished; there is also entertainment, such as a raffle with prizes in kind.
