The Sonnenbergbahn in Kriens is a genuine rarity and is considered Switzerland's slowest funicular. Since 1902, the historic railway has connected Kriens with the Sonnenberg recreation area. Travelling at a leisurely 5.4 km/h, it glides up the slope in around eight minutes, offering the same nostalgic charm as it did more than 120 years ago. The heritage-listed funicular still runs today with its faithfully restored carriages and is a sight in its own right. Whether for hiking, the Zwergenweg (dwarf trail), the playground or simply the view over Lucerne, the ride is part of the experience.
