The Umwelt Arena in Spreitenbach is one of Switzerland's most innovative excursion destinations and makes sustainability tangible in an exciting and interactive way. On more than 5,000 square metres of exhibition space, visitors discover over 45 experience worlds covering energy, mobility, living, consumption, climate and the environment. Instead of dry information, the focus here is on trying things out and joining in. Visitors can operate numerous exhibits themselves and see how sustainable technologies already work today.
A special highlight is the indoor course, where various electric vehicles can be tested free of charge. From e-cars and e-bikes to unusual fun vehicles, the Umwelt Arena offers an experience that can hardly be found in this form anywhere else in Switzerland. Families also appreciate the interactive stations, the energy slide and the playful way complex topics are conveyed.
The futuristic building itself is already a sight in its own right. The Umwelt Arena opened in 2012 and was designed as a plus-energy building. The huge solar installation on the roof produces more energy than the building itself consumes. In this way, sustainability is not only explained but directly put into practice.
